- Diet Restrictions Pre-Op - You should be without anything
to eat or drink for at least six hours. This is to protect
you from vomiting during your procedure which could lead to a
severe illness.
- Escort - We require an escort to be at the office during
the procedure. They cannot leave because we need for them to
remain to take you home. You will normally be in the office
for one and one-half hours at most. Your escort needs
to be able to drive and be with you the remainder of the day.
- Driving Restrictions - You should not drive for 24 hours
post-op
- Monitoring - We use automated monitors to help keep you
safe. The doctor and two staff are present at all times
during your procedure. You will not be allowed to leave
until it is safe to so.
- Training - Our doctors are certified in Basic Life
Support (BLS-Provider) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS-Provider). The staff are certified in BLS-Provider as
well.
- Emergency Equipment - Both offices have Automated
External Defibrillators (AED) and advanced airway management
equipment and medications.
- Drug Effects - The medications we use can have an effect
for as long as eight hours, but some people experience a longer
effect. This is another reason why we require an escort.
- Normal Medications - If you take medications, we will
advise you how to take them before your surgery. If you take
blood pressure medication we request that you take it as you
normally would with a sip of water. If you take an aspirin a
day, we will not stop it. However, you should avoid more
than one aspirin per day for at least 7 days before your
procedure.
