Dentoalveolar Surgery
We provide dentoalveolar surgery of all types.
Dentoalveolar surgery is surgery of the teeth, gums and supporting
bone. Most procedures of this type involve removing teeth, reshaping
the gums or bones and preparing the jaws for either dentures or implant
placement. Included in this treatment category is wisdom tooth - 3rd
molar surgery.
Dental Implants
Dental implantology involves placement of dental root form
implants into the jaws to replace single or multiple teeth. Implants can
also be placed to support dentures and aid orthodontic treatment.
Implant placement has been advancing for the past 40 years. Many patients
enjoy the stability of implants over having a denture. Implants should be
a consideration for all patients who are missing teeth as early as their late
teens.
Pathology and Oral Diseases
We treat most oral
conditions. Many of them can be treated with medications, but some require
biopsy or total removal. We will follow your treatment until the
condition is healed or refer you to a larger medical center if a condition is
extensive e.g. cancer. We use the University of Kentucky Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology Service for all specimen examinations. We forward
a copy of your insurance card to them if we have to use their services.
Anesthesia
We live in a remarkable age which allows us to offer you
controlled intravenous anesthesia in the clinical environment. Intravenous
anesthesia is a time honored concept with a safety margin in an Oral &
Maxillofacial Surgery office that is unparalleled in any other profession.
Our doctors hold General Anesthesia licenses because of their extensive
anesthesia experience and training. Both maintain Advanced Cardiac Life
Support credentials and all staff are trained in Basic Cardiac Life
Support for Health Care Providers. We maintain an extensive set of
emergency response medications and equipment. Both offices have Automatic
External Defibrillators and monitoring equipment. We comply with AAOMS
out-patient anesthesia guidelines and participate in the required office
inspection program.
